A village on the Galway - Gort - Ennis road , Clarinbridge is perhaps most famous for the Clarinbridge Oyster Festival ; an annual event held both here and in the neighboring village of Kilcolgan , during September. The world oyster-opening championships are also hosted here during the festival. There are several good pubs and restaurants in the local area , some of which are roofed in the traditional thatch manner.
