James Bernard Barrett born c.1857 Ballinasloe, Galway, was the son of John and Margaret Barrett (nee Molloy). James immigrated to Franklinford, Victoria, Australia possibly in the late 1870's and married his cousin Elizabeth Margaret Molloy in 1880. At this point in time I don't know anything further regarding James' parents nor if he had any siblings. |

this is what i have Martin barrett married bridget kenny..they boys left ireland abt1863 for liverpool..arrived in america in 1864 eugene served with brother john in civil war...John never came home...had brother edmond born nov 1849 in Ireland when he came to America he was 15 He is my grt grandfather... any help greatly appreciated. edmond married Bridget Cusack in New York abt 1870 |

John Barrett born abt 1858, die abt 1942 from Killaderia, Ballyforan, Ballinasloe. He had eight sons: Dan, Thomas, James, John, Thomas, Martin, Peter, and Pat. They were all born in Killaderia. Thomas Barrett married Margaret Mulleague from Lissavuggy, Ireland. His son Pat is still living in Ballinasloe. Does anyone have any further information? |

My paternal grandfather was apparently American of Irish extraction, and his name was Martin Barrett. He was a pianist who moved to Glasgow and died in an accident in NYC before the Second World War.
I have no idea if there is a Galway connection. |

Frederick Barrett, a sea captain by family lore, settled in Philadelphia, wife possibly ? Carr or ? Rutledge. Their son my grandfather Stephen Flanagan Barrett was born in the 1870s. He married May, daughter of plumber Joseph McGuckin in Philadelphia. Galway link unknown. |

Maurice John Barrett came to Baltimore in 1818. He married Maria Catharine Victory in Baltimore on 31 Jan 1825. After having 4 children: John Joseph, Maria Teresa, Julianna, and Luke Zephanius, the family moved to Galway Ireland (possibly where Maurice was originally from) where they had 4 more children: Isabella, Cahtarine Agnes, Julia Anna Gertrude, and Maurice Ultanus.
