Large freshwater lake beside Loughrea town; fed by underground springs. Exceptionally clean water, which is carefully minded by the townspeople, especially the local, and very active, anglers association. Locally popular for swimming; there are some paths laid out for walking, and a good children's playground near the tennis club beside the Gort Road. A local lakeside park is being developed along the Court Road (c2001).

Access: the lake shore is immediately beside the Loughrea - Gort Road and the Loughrea - Woodford Road. Enquire anywhere for most suitable swimming location.
