Location: Gort, situated on the main Galway - Limerick road. Once the meeting place of those literary giants of their era, Gregory, Yeats and Martin, Gort is often called the literary centre of Ireland. Coole Gardens, with its famous inscribed tree, and the family seat of Lady Gregory, is close to the town and open to the public. Thoor Ballylee lies within two miles and the Round Tower of Kilmacduagh a mere three miles away. The area has much to offer by way of sporting relaxation. There is excellent trout fishing in nearby streams, and Cooles Lake and Lough Cutra are perhaps two of the best coarse fishing lakes in the West of Ireland. We are within fifteen minutes walk of an 18 Hole Golf Course and 15 minutes drive from the Beach and the Burren. To the right is a map and beneath are approximate distances from Gort by road. |
