Located on a high ridge of
ground between the spectacular Cliffs of Moher (the highest sea-cliffs
in western Europe) and the celebrated village of Doolin,
this farmhouse-guesthouse faces out over the vast expanse of the Atlantic.
The exceptionally clean and pollution-free air of the west coast of Ireland
presents the landscape in all of its true colour.
An easy walk along the ridge of 2miles/3km brings you to the cliffs, while
a walk in the other direction takes you to Doolin
village, famed for traditional Irish music (3miles/4km). There are numerous
other walks on the many small roads of the area: remember Ireland has
more public road per head of population than any other country in the
world, so visitors are never short of a place to walk, whether you are
a stroller or serious hiker.

Other local attractions include
angling (shore, boat, river and lake; please note that the lake - Lough
Luagh - is fly-only), pony-trekking and cruises by boat. The ferry to Inisheer,
the smallest of the three Aran Islands, leaves from Doolin Pier. The town
of Lisdoonvarna, famous for
its September matchmaking frolics, is only 5miles/8km away. It is famous
spa town, where natural mineral waters which seep from the rocks can be
bathed in and drank. |
John and Margaret Carey, your hosts at Emohruo (read it
backwards !), welcome you to their comfortable farm guesthouse, where
the spacious bedrooms are all en-suite, and you will sample Irish hospitality
